The outlook for the Authority continues to be strong for several reasons.

Foremost, the Governor’s aggressive infrastructure agenda, matched by the
Legislature’s support, has been balanced on the financial expertise of the NMFA. Despite record-breaking state revenues, the NMFA continued to provide solutions for primary infrastructure finance for several projects.

Within the past year, NMFA has been honored to have received the Governor’s and legislature’s endorsement in forging new ground in economic development, healthcare, transportation, and water infrastructure financing. Our efforts to align the Governor’s goals with the Legislature’s, we believe has been our greatest accomplishment.

 In fact, during the 2005 legislative session, NMFA structured financing plans for several important facilities throughout the state. That will ultimately invest more than $100 million into health facilities throughout the state. One financing helped the UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center recently receive accreditation from the National Cancer Institute to be designated as one of premiere centers in the country. Other financings will allow NMFA to reach out to health centers throughout the state. Aside from a new state health laboratory, NMFA is able to finance the rehabilitation of health centers in Las Vegas, Roswell and Silver City.

In looking to the future, NMFA’s historic success has clearly set a high standard for continued high performance. The fundamentals are solid: revenues are in line with our estimates, expenditures are growing proportionally with new responsibilities, and management is building a policy platform that will drive the organization. NMFA will continue to reach out to small communities, provide low-cost financing for fire districts, and rural school districts.
